WHAT’s happening
Loss of critical funding
Public Health in Washington State has been underfunded for years due to its reliance on precarious funding sources tied to our state’s upside down tax code. At Seattle-King County Public Health (SKCPH), the General Funds that support community health clinics are depleted. We have now reached a critical point, and clinics that serve some of our most vulnerable neighbors are under threat of closure.
$23 million to be cut in 2025
impacts
Nearly 80,000 patients utilize the SKCPH clinics and mobile sites each year located in Auburn, Burien, Des Moines, Federal Way, Kent, Renton, Seattle, and more. Without funding, thousands of our neighbors who rely on these clinics could be left without care. In addition, nearly 1,000 public health professionals who’ve dedicated their lives to patient care are at risk of losing their livelihoods.
